The Bushmen people have hunted the Kalahari area with their “primitive” Bow and Arrow for centuries. They had to stalk and ambush the animals to get close enough to have their poison tipped arrows penetrate through the skin and release the poison into the bloodstream. Animals would take hours, sometimes days to go down from the poison.
Times have changed and technology is enabling us today to shoot more accurately over longer distance to make vital shots where animals go down within minutes. In the Molopo Kalahari hunting area we offer walk and stalk, ambush and blind hunting. Because of limited time available to the “modern” Bow Hunter, blinds over water and feeding spots helps to maximise the opportunities and success.
Molopo Kalahari Safaris have permanent ground blinds, elevated blinds and stands where the Bow hunter can wait for his desired trophy. We also make use of moveable pop-up blinds if needed. The average shooting distance from the blinds is about 20 yards.
Game Species available to hunt in the Kalahari area alone are Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Giraffe, Eland, Sable, Roan, Kudu, Waterbuck, Gemsbuck, Blue wildebeest, Black Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Zebra, Blesbok, Impala, Springbok, Warthog, Duiker and Steenbuck. In this area we also have the small cats like Caracal, African wild cat and Genet cats.
We also have Nyala, Bushbuck, Klipspringer, Mountain Reedbuck, Bushpig etc available in the Swartruggens/Great Marico hunting area. Other game species not mentioned are available on request.
